PANGAEA brings earth system data to SciVerse ScienceDirect
SciVerse ScienceDirect and PANGAEA – Publishing Network for Geoscientific & Environmental Data – bring together their respective content in earth system research.
PANGAEA’s data library links primary data related to articles in earth and environmental science journals from Elsevier and other publishers. However, rather than searching for data in a repository and then looking for the corresponding article, a researcher is much more likely to first find an article in a literature search, and only then realize the need to access the corresponding data set.
Now , each article on SciVerse ScienceDirect with a corresponding data set in PANGAEA displays a prominent link directly to that data set on PANGAEA
How does it work?
When data sets are available for an article, a PANGAEA icon and link are displayed on the SciVerse ScienceDirect article. By clicking on the icon, the user is taken to a page that includes citation information and a link to download the data. The data sets are freely available without a login or subscription.
In addition, a map is provided displaying all geographical locations for which such data is available. A single click brings the user from the SciVerse ScienceDirect article to the research data set at PANGAEA.
