Forensic science is the application of a broad spectrum of sciences to answer questions of interest to the legal system, often in relation to a crime or to a civil action. Forensic professionals hail from many disciplines including medicine, law, dentistry, toxicology, anthropology, psychiatry, engineering, criminology, and computer science. In addition to actively practicing forensic science in either a law enforcement or legal setting, in which they examine evidence and provide expert testimony in court, many forensic scientists also teach and conduct research in the field as well.
