Printer-friendly version

On May 21, 2011 Elsevier launched several highly anticipated enhancements to its SciVerse platform with the aim to make SciVerse faster.

What does this mean for SciVerse ScienceDirect?

Coming soon: When coming from Google you find a clear connection between your search on Google and the SciVerse ScienceDirect article you landed on. The Google search terms are highlighted within the ScienceDirect article to ensure you can quickly evaluate why the article is relevant to you.

The default number of results per page is reduced from 100 to 50 results to allow for quicker loading of the search results. If this is not your preferred setting the default can be easily changed. Your preferences will be saved within a given session. Logged-in user’s preference will be remembered when they come back for the next visit.

Notification for Internet Explorer 6 users

From summer 2011 SciVerse ScienceDirect will no longer support the Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) version that was launched in 2001. ScienceDirect is striving to constantly utilize the latest web technologies, including interactive and other multimedia applications.  To ensure you get the most of your experience on ScienceDirect, we encourage you to contact your institutional IT department to update your browser before summer 2011.

Notification for librarians and administrators

Following our earlier notification, Pay-per-View (PPV) purchases by credit card are no longer de-activated. The de-activation was temporarily needed for a selected group of PPV accounts to prevent unsubscribed article purchases from being automatically directed to credit card instead of purchasing from the drawdown account with pre-paid credits.
