Scopus Summer 2012 Release

Scopus Alerts, Easier to Create and Even Easier to Manage

Scopus alerts offer the ability to stay up to date on all the most important developments in your areas of interest, conveniently delivered to you via email.  Now with this current release, we have made the construction of Alerts even easier with drop down selection for delivery frequency and delivery day/date.  Once constructed, Alerts will also be easier to manage with an expanded My alerts page layout. Updated Display Options for Hub

The “display options” on Hub’s search results page will now be displayed as drop down menus. We think this simple change will make it easier for users to browse the results according to their preferences. Also, to make it easier to differentiate types of content, when a user hovers over the icons in search results, they now will all have the correct descriptions of the source type.

Citation count issues resolved

The technical issue we experienced on Wednesday 6th June with the citation counts displayed on Scopus have now been resolved, and all counts are now accurate.

Please note that the issue was confined to display on the Scopus website and has no consequences for Scopus data.

SOLVED: Scopus citation counts currently experiencing technical issues

We are currently experiencing a technical issue with the citation counts in Scopus.  Our product team is repairing the counts, and expects to have the maintenance completed within the next 48 hours. While these updates are being conducted, please do not use the bibliometric indicators as they may be incorrect. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Scopus updated with new titles and conferences

The Scopus title list has been updated with almost 300 new titles since the end of 2011. This brings the total number of active titles in Scopus to over  19,500. Scopus has a broad coverage in all subject areas with 33% of its titles in Health Sciences, 30% in Physical Sciences, 21% in Social Sciences and 16% in Life Sciences.

New in the title list are the additional tabs of post-1995 and pre-1996 conferences covered in Scopus. These are mostly non-serial conference events that are covered in Scopus and do not have a profile as serial publication in the main title list. Scopus and ScienceDirect Document Download Manager Enhancements

The Document Download Manager (DDM) allows users to select and automatically download, re-name and save multiple documents simultaneously. This service allows users to spend less time gathering information and more time for their real work. Initially, the Document Download Manager was only available for a limited number of browsers and we realize this has frustrated some of our users. We are happy to announce that list of compatible browsers has been expanded to include all commonly used browsers and browser versions, including Chrome and improved Mac support. As a result, more researchers can now benefit from this highly effective and time saving functionality.

Internet Explorer 9 display issues resolved

Until now, users of the IE9 browser have been frustrated with Scopus display issues, we understand and have been working on better browser compatibility. In preparation for full support of IE9 in the coming months, IE9 users will now be seamlessly redirected to run in IE7 compatibility mode. This will alleviate any display issues for Scopus users.
