Scopus updated with new titles and conferences

The Scopus title list has been updated with almost 300 new titles since the end of 2011. This brings the total number of active titles in Scopus to over  19,500. Scopus has a broad coverage in all subject areas with 33% of its titles in Health Sciences, 30% in Physical Sciences, 21% in Social Sciences and 16% in Life Sciences.

New in the title list are the additional tabs of post-1995 and pre-1996 conferences covered in Scopus. These are mostly non-serial conference events that are covered in Scopus and do not have a profile as serial publication in the main title list. Scopus Online Help Files – New Features

We are continuing to add enhancements that make information about SciVerse releases readily available and hopefully make your job easier. Scopus and ScienceDirect Document Download Manager Enhancements

The Document Download Manager (DDM) allows users to select and automatically download, re-name and save multiple documents simultaneously. This service allows users to spend less time gathering information and more time for their real work. Initially, the Document Download Manager was only available for a limited number of browsers and we realize this has frustrated some of our users. We are happy to announce that list of compatible browsers has been expanded to include all commonly used browsers and browser versions, including Chrome and improved Mac support. As a result, more researchers can now benefit from this highly effective and time saving functionality.

Internet Explorer 9 display issues resolved

Until now, users of the IE9 browser have been frustrated with Scopus display issues, we understand and have been working on better browser compatibility. In preparation for full support of IE9 in the coming months, IE9 users will now be seamlessly redirected to run in IE7 compatibility mode. This will alleviate any display issues for Scopus users.

While most of these changes have already been announced on the SciVerse blog, this goes into a bit more detail on why the updates were made. It also mentions some of the smaller updates not yet announced and introduces some of what I feel to be the most interesting new SciVerse Applications for Scopus.

With this release you will notice that the familiar Web, Patents and More tabs are gone.  In fact they have been replaced with links that will bring your Scopus search over to Hub so that you may continue your discovery in Hub.  Please do take a moment to explore all that Hub has to offer.

Simply click on the link to continue your search in Hub for Web, Patents and more.

In Hub your search will be preserved and your discovery can continue.
