Articles and chapters of publications can be accessed in ScienceDirect through browsing or searching.
Several different document formats may be available.
Let's look at the different document formats which are available in ScienceDirect.
First, we'll look at an Abstract.
The Abstract format contains the abstract text of the article or chapter.
Next, let's look at the SummaryPlus format.
The SummaryPlus format contains:
Now, let's look at the Abstract + References format.
The Abstract + References format contains the article's abstract and the bibliographic references.
Next, let's look at an article in PDF format.
The PDF format is the display of the article or chapter exactly as it appears in the printed publication.
The PFD document opens in a secondary window without interrupting your ScienceDirect session.
And now, let's look at the Full Text + Links format.
The Full Text + Links format contains the abstract, the article outline, the article text, the figures, tables, etc., and the references.
The outline provides direct links to the specific sections of the article or chapter.
Click on the thumbnail to view the full-size image, movie clip, table, figure, or presentation in a secondary window.
Click the Close button to close the secondary window.
Your ScienceDirect session remains open at the point in which you opened the figure.
Reference links appear at the end of the Full Text + Links article.
Let's go back to the top of the article.
Many features/functions are available on the article or chapter display page.
Full Size Images / Thumbnail Images
Change the display of any images, figures, tables, etc., in your current ScienceDirect session by clicking the available link.
Cited By
See all other articles on ScienceDirect that have cited the article or chapter you are viewing.
Save as Citation Alert
Establish an e-mail alert to notify you when a new article is published on ScienceDirect which cites the article.
E-mail Article
Send an article's or chapter's citation with a link to the article or chapter in ScienceDirect to a colleague.
Export Citation
Export a citation and abstract to your citation management program.
Add as Quick Link
If you are logged in, you can add the document to your Quick Links for easy and permanent access in the future.
Abstract + References in Scopus
See the abstract and biographical references of this document in Scopus.
Cited By in Scopus
Access in Scopus a list of available articles which have cited this document.
