ADVISORY BOARDS AND USER GROUPS

Journal Editorial Boards

ScienceDirect offers more than 2,500 peer-reviewed journals made up of more than 10 million articles. These are underpinned by the journal editorial boards that ensure integrity of the peer review process and editorial policies for each journal. More than 8,000 editors help to shape our journal content and advise us on tools, policies and support for editors, reviewers and authors.

Scopus Content Selection Advisory Board

The Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) is a group of scientists, researchers and librarians from all corners of the globe who represent all major scientific disciplines. The board comprises 14 Subject Chairs, each representing a specific subject field. The Board works with the Scopus team to understand how the product is used and how it could be enhanced. Their recommendations directly influence the overall direction of Scopus and the prioritization of requests for new features. The group also contributes to the content growth strategy to ensure Scopus content stays international, current and relevant. http://www.info.sciverse.com/scopus/csab

Innovation Explorers

Elsevier works closely together with librarians, researchers and developers to enhance and improve SciVerse. Through advisory boards, conferences, development consultations, user-design sessions and online communities like Innovation Explorers™ we host a variety of different initiatives to ensure you are involved in SciVerse’s evolution.

Whether you prefer personal meetings or online interaction, private groups or public forums, we welcome your opinions and advice.

Innovation Explorers consists of three communities:  one for librarians with 200 members, one for researchers with 500 members and a third with 150 research administrators. Each week we post new research activities for members to participate in, such as surveys, discussions and brainstorms on behalf of your colleagues at Elsevier. Members can also initiate their own discussions and activities. Feel free to log-in whenever is convenient to see real-time data and have a look round.

Innovation Explorers offer you and your colleagues the chance to interact with Elsevier’s customers in straightforward and timely way. We can typically get results in a couple of weeks from your initial request. Over the years we have researched a vast array of initiatives and topics in the community including product and coms testing, concept development, exploring decision making patterns or even reflecting on wider industry trends.

We aim to be a straightforward and low maintenance solution, and we would like to encourage you to consider the community for any customer facing initiatives you are currently engaged with.

CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS

Editors’ Conferences http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/editorsinfo.editors/info

Our Journal Editors play a major role in the review process that not only improves the quality of the author's contribution, but also contributes to improvements in research as a whole. At these conferences, Elsevier Journal Editors and Publishers discuss ways of improving the quality and speed of the editorial process, thereby attracting the best authors to the journal.

Attendance: Open to all Elsevier Journal Editors. Please contact your Publisher for more information

Publishing Connect

Publishing Connect seminars are held primarily at universities and other academic research institutions. Taught by publishers and local journal editors, these author seminars focus on scientific writing skills, the review process, author rights and ethics. We are happy to create a bespoke program that integrates best practice and Q&A sessions.

Attendance: please contact your sales or publishing representative if you’d like to host a Publishing Connect workshop at your institution.

Live Training Sessions

Members of the training team are happy to come to your institutions and offer free training sessions for librarians and researchers for all our tools and services.

Attendance: Contact your sales representative for details on free, live training sessions.

ONLINE

Innovation Explorers: private and moderated online fora for Researchers, Librarians and Research Administrators.

Innovation Explorers™ is Elsevier’s set of three online communities consisting of researchers, librarians and research administrators from around the world. Made up of more than 600 members, the groups provide feedback on our products through surveys, polls, interviews and relevant discussion topics. Through Innovation Explorers we hope to learn more about the communities’ concerns and challenges, so that we can help make the forum a valuable experience and help shape the future of Elsevier products and services.
